Jess @ Ms. Canadian Expat and her plight
While my goal is to retire at 40, I would have liked to retire at 30! But because of lifestyle choices in my 20’s, I didn’t fall into a career until I was 30. This is late for the early retirement crowd. But hey, I studied a lot, travelled a lot, and was chasing a hot German guy!
Now that I’m 33 and have more life and career stability, I am aiming to get out of the rat race ASAP. From my calculations, 7 years is realistic, although I wouldn’t mind accelerating this if possible.
The simple answer is that I want freedom. I want the choice to spend my time the way I want to spend it. Not necessarily trading my time for money.
I’m married to a wonderful guy who I call ‘Mr. German’ on my blog. We’re a couple of DINKs (Dual Income, No Kids) living in Germany. On top of trying to retire early, we are also aiming to live healthy, simply, and are trying to have a baby one day soon.
